About Phi Alpha Delta

Description:

Founded in 1902, Phi Alpha Delta is the largest law fraternity in the United States and worldwide. The fraternity is co-ed, being the first law fraternity to open membership to all genders, races, creeds, and national origins. Prominent members of the fraternity, both past and present, include U.S. Presidents, Supreme Court Justices, and Members of Congress.

Our Chapter:

The University of Florida Chapter of Phi Alpha Delta Pre-Law Fraternity

was established on April 14th, 1986. It is the largest pre-law organization

on the University of Florida campus, with 137 brothers. It is also one of

the largest chapters in the country with 129 members inducted last year.

Litigation Experience:

The UF Chapter is known for its outstanding mock trial teams- it clinched

first and second place State championship titles in 2010, 2011, and 2012,

along with another first place win in 2013.

UF has won the 2010, 2011, 2012, 2014, 2015, and 2016 Phi Alpha Delta

Pre Law National Mock Trial Competitions.

Out of all the Phi Alpha Delta chapters around the country, in 2016-2017 the UF Chapter won 2nd place for recruitment, 2nd in Communications, and first place for the Don Hutson Outstanding Pre-Law Chapter award!

In addition to mock trial, the chapter prides itself on the internship opportunities, community service projects, mentorship, and professional networking opportunities it provides it members.

Networking:

In the past few years, the chapter has hosted a private law admissions panel with admissions officers from 17 top law schools and co-hosted the University of Florida's Graduate and Professional Day, which included a law school expo which over 80 law schools attended. The Graduate and Professional Day fair is open to all UF students. UF PAD has hosted a wide variety of speakers from various parts of the legal profession- from law school professors, attorneys, and investigators to judges.

Service:

The chapter has been involved with the Boys & Girls Club of Alachua County, Relay for Life, Bread of the Mighty Food Bank, and the Southern Legal to give back to the community. Besides hosting service events, the fraternity often organizes donation drives; in the past, we have donated books to Shand's pediatric offices, collected school supplies for the Boys & Girls Club, and amassed blankets for the Salvation Army during the winter.

Ultimately, the University of Florida Chapter strives to guide pre-law students in their journeys as they decide which law schools, if any at all, are right for them.
